One popular method, radio SETI, listens for artificial radio signals coming from other stars. At the same time quasars offer many “windows open onto the unknown.” On small scales, quasar properties depend on phenomena very close to the black hole event horizon. He is also the first American to enter the Mir space station. The star is called HD 40307, and it’s a bit over 40 light years away (pretty close in galactic standards, but I wouldn’t want to walk there).

Besides writing about astronomy news stories (putting some context behind a gee-whiz news flash from some research organization like NASA or a university), he separates the fact from all of the fiction and junk science on many television shows, movies, and internet sites. NASA News - Find out what's going on at NASA! Unfortunately, the “lecture-dominated” classroom often causes our bright and academically successful STEM majors to abandon their STEM degrees before completion—and this is especially true for women, minorities, and students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds (ref. 24-25).

This paper reviews claims made by Gerald L. By studying the wavelength of the light you can see whether the light source is moving farther away or is getting closer. He earned his degree at George Washington University in 1961. The geographical range and scope of my work has increased dramatically based upon the knowledge and experience that I gained through West Chester. Researchers from Boston University's (BU) Center for Space Physics, using data from the Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) on Maunakea, Hawaii, report today in Nature that Jupiter's Great Red Spot may provide the mysterious source of energy required to heat the planet's upper atmosphere to the unusually high temperatures observed.
