The "good" characters in these novels are driven by an attachment to high ideals, whereas the villains--always aligned with the Crown or Tory perspectives--base and self-serving, seeking only to advance their narrow self-interest and oblivious to the merits of any cause. Again, the school librarian can be a good resource. The boy passes the time rolling his marble in the aisle, and Rosa Parks, sitting up in the front of the bus where she isn’t supposed to, rolls it back to him.
