Gerade der exemplarische Lernbereich Gerätturnen bietet die Möglichkeit, sich mit angstbe-setzten Situationen auseinanderzusetzen und die Angst überwinden zu lernen.
Der Thüringer Lehrplan beispielsweise macht für den Lehrbereich Gerätturnen konkrete An-gaben. Diese besagen, dass ein Beitrag zur Kompetenzentwicklung dadurch geleistet wird, dass die Schüler „[…] Ängste überwinden und dabei ein kalkulierbares Risiko einschätzen lernen“ (Thüringer Kultusministerium 1999, S. 20). Somit sollte es nicht das Ziel sein, den game bzw. Sportunterricht stets angstfrei zu gestalten.

Angst kann dazu führen, dass Sportler und Schüler sich neuen Bewegungsanforderungen verweigern. Somit bleibt ihre Bewegungskompetenz eingeschränkt. Darüber hinaus können die positiven Erlebnisqualitäten von Bewegung, Spiel und game verschlossen bleiben (vgl. Klupsch-Sahlmann & Kottmann, 1992, S. 8). Gerade deswegen scheint es bedeutsam, als coach und Lehrer verschiedene methodische und pädagogische Maßnahmen zu kennen, um Angstgefühlen entgegenwirken zu können. Diesbezüglich werden in dieser Arbeit eine Reihe von Möglichkeiten vorgestellt.

Auf Grundlage eines Fragebogens wird in der vorliegenden wissenschaftlichen Arbeit der Frage nachgegangen, welche Geräte bei den Turnern besonders Angst auslösen. Die Vermutung ist hierbei, dass das Reck, welches auch als „Königsgerät“ bekannt ist, ein stärkeres Angstempfinden hervorruft, als andere Geräte. In diesem Rahmen ist weiterhin zu analysieren, inwieweit verschiedene allgemeine Trainings- und Wettkampfbedingungen angstauslösend wirken und welche Maßnahmen Sportler ergreifen, um ihre Angstgefühle zu kontrollieren.
